Launch of MONTE Maritime
MONTE is delighted to announce the launch of MONTE Maritime, a dedicated clean energy finance vehicle providing tailored financing solutions for decarbonized vessels.
MONTE Maritime will offer financing and leasing solutions for small to mid-sized decarbonized vessels used for several use cases including ferry operations, last mile logistics, city / river operations and tug vessels. Our Maritime strategy will build on MONTE’s expertise and 20+ years’ of experience in providing financing / leasing solutions to the transportation sector.
We founded MONTE in 2021 with the vision of becoming an asset owner and manager that is synonymous with decarbonized regional transportation.
At the time, we focused on the regional aviation market, having seen the increasing momentum in the industry towards decarbonization. Since then, we have built pioneering relationships with market leading new technology manufacturers whilst signing up operators who together operate over 200 aircraft to decarbonize their fleets.
About a year ago, we began working on MONTE Maritime. Building on our deep experience of transportation financing over the last two decades, coupled with our pioneering position focused on decarbonization in the regional aviation market, we wanted to create a financing solution in the regional maritime market to help accelerate decarbonization.
Over 3% of the world’s CO2 emissions are attributable to the maritime industry with over 30% of those coming from the regional maritime sector. Excitingly though, there are already over 150 battery powered vessels operating globally and with brilliant OEMs creating new decarbonization solutions and with over 15,000 vessels requiring replacement in the next decade, we believe the regional maritime industry is about to undergo a substantial decarbonization.
Like with the regional aviation market, we will also provide finance all of the infrastructure and charging equipment necessary for the operation of the decarbonized vessels in order to provide operators with a turnkey solution for their operations.
